Stopped in for some cookies, 1/4lb minimum for cookies. All of the cookies were good They have various cookies, cakes, cannolis and pastries as well as coffee and gelato
While in New Haven Connecticut we found ourselves on Wooster Street which is know as little Italy. We had just had our Clam Pizza next door at Frank E Pepe and wanted a little dessert. Libby's was next door and so we decided to check it out. My husband opted for the original cannoli and I choose the cookies and cream one or should I say the cashier choose for me because I was very indecisive and would have probably have ordered one of each because they all looked so good! We were thinking about splitting them so we could try more of the menu. But once I took a bite of my cookies and cream one I knew I didn't want to share lol! My husband was very happy with his original but I can definitely say two thumbs up for the cookies and cream one.
Walking distance from Frank Pepe's, Libby's can't be beat! There's nothing like authentic Italian baked goods and let me say, Libby's is the real deal! They also have cute indoor and outdoor dining set ups so there's no rush to leave the shop once you have your sweet treat.
I appreciate the amount of seating there is both inside and outside -- plenty of space to enjoy some gelato or pastries. The gelato was nice and creamy, though a bit too sweet for my liking. The portion size was pretty good for the price (under $5). I didn't try any pastries, but there seemed to be a wide range with unique flavors.
The cappuccino gelato and the hazelnut gelato were perfect light and delicious. I used to always get the Italian ice which is also delicious and great to settle your stomach after a big Italian meal.
